Being a Toastmaster means more than simply making a commitment to self-development. Everyone who joins a Toastmasters Club is making a commitment to the Club, to its members, and to the organization as a whole.

A Toastmaster’s Promise

As a member of Toastmasters International and my Club, I promise…

To attend Club meetings regularly,
To prepare all my speeches to the best of my ability, basing them on projects in the Communication and Leadership Program manual or the Advanced Communication and Leadership Program manuals,
To prepare for and fulfil meeting assignments,
To provide fellow members with helpful, constructive evaluations,
To help the Club maintain the positive, friendly environment necessary for all members to learn and grow,
To serve my Club as an officer when called upon to do so,
To treat my fellow Club members and our guests with respect and courtesy,
To bring guests to Club meetings so they see the benefits Toastmasters membership offers,
To adhere to the guidelines and rules for all Toastmasters educational and recognition programs,

The Mission of The TM Club

The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality.

Through its member Clubs, Toastmasters International helps men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening and thinking – vital skills that promote self-actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding, and contribute to the betterment of mankind.

It is basic to this mission that Toastmasters International continually expand its worldwide network of Clubs, thereby offering ever-greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from its programs.

& Membership

Level of English
a sufficient level of communicative English – B2 (CEF). The level is assessed and approved by the acting Executive Committee.

Active member
Is a member in good standing, who takes part in the activities of the club – participates in the meetings and club communication.

Voting in
A prospective member must be elected to membership upon favourable vote of at least 2/3 of all active members. (every club must vote in its members to retain its charter).
The voting in can take place not earlier than the second meeting the guest is present.

Voting out
A member can be disciplined / expelled from the club by the decision of at least 2/3 of all active members. Before voting out the member must be given the chance to be listened to.

Guest status
A guest can take part in all segments of the meeting apart from speeches and participate in the TM educational program. However, the guest can come to the meetings for four times maximum and then will be asked to apply for a membership.
The guests will be assigned mentors by the VPE who will be accompanying them in the meetings, inquire as to what the candidates for new members expect from the membership and what they are prepared to contribute to the Club. The mentors will be asked to share their observations with other members before voting in procedure.

New members
must be officially and warmly inducted and during the induction ceremony declare they have got acquainted with the Club Bylaws, Toastmasters International Promise and Mission.

Membership – 200PLN per 6 months, New Member Kit – 90PLN


& Communication

Using English
English language is to be used as an official language particularly with guests.

All correspondence concerning the club business must be in English.

The club documents are to be kept official; it goes for names in particular: e.g., Joanna, Tomasz, etc.


& Executive Committee

The Executive Committee
will have a briefing every first week of the month.

The officers
are requested to prepare reports of their activities and detailed plans for the next term.

The attendance
will be observed by the VP Membership who will send e-mails to a member who has been absent for 4 meetings in a row.

Club business

Club image and meetings content
the issues of club image, target members and what we wish to do during the meetings must be agreed on by all the executive Committee members

will be delivered regularly at regular meetings each month after EC briefing, and so:
The Treasurer
a financial report and collecting orders
The VP Education
educational achievements and statistics
The VP Membership
attendance report and planned integration events
promotional activities

The Secretary
updating Club Bylaws

Events Calendar
The Club uses its own calendar of events and trainings corresponding to the district calendar.

The Club internet domain
is owned by the member who is to cede the right to the domain name to the current President of the Club in case they give up membership.



Promoting initiatives other than Toastmasters
Any member of the club or participant at the meeting who would like to promote any initiative that is not connected with Toastmasters International must have a prior permission granted by the TSPS Executive Committee (The President and at least two other members of EC).


Appendix 1

& The Induction Ceremony

Before the official acceptance of the candidates for membership into the Toastmasters Szczecin Passionate Speakers Club, the Vice President Membership (or the Officer of the highest rank) conducts the ceremony of induction of new members in the presence of the President and the Club members.

The Host of the ceremony says:

H: In the presence of the Club members I ask you:
Do you promise to act according to the Bylaws of the Toastmasters Szczecin Passionate Speakers Club and the Mission and the Promise of Toastmasters International?

NM: Yes, I do.

H: I now pronounce you a member of Toastmasters Szczecin Passionate Speakers Club. Congratulations!

The VP Membership and the President congratulate the new member and welcome them to the Club warmly and promise in the name of the Club members:

support in pursuing the Toastmasters goals
constructive evaluations.

Then the host confirms the person of the Mentor for the New Member.


Appendix 2

& The Executive Committee Election Procedure

The Toastmaster who is also the President of the Election Committee, usually the Immediate Past President, will follow the procedure below:

Ask the members to name candidates for EC functions.
Obtain the consent of the appointed members to candidate.
Prepare the final list of candidates for EC.
Arrange the Committee: Presiding Officer, Returning Officer, Secretary.

Inform the members:

The candidates can make up to 2 minutes election speech, but do not have to.
No one can speak for the candidates unless they read the speech written by and handed in by the candidate.
The members can have questions to the candidates.
The necessary quorum is 50% of active members.

After elections

Present a report.
